Tuesday Tours of Vietnam

8. September 2009 | Category General | 0 Comments »

Today I will be going on two company tours; DHL, which is a service like Fed-ex or UPS and SAB Miller, or Vietnam’s version of Miller Beer. I hope that they provide free samples!

The spas in Vietnam are very very reasonable. What in the states costs $120 is $40 at most here. Some of the girls and I are hoping that after the company tours were able to make an early evening trip to the spa.

Monday in Vietnam

Today is all work! In the morning we’re having two presentations one on the realities of the business environment in Vietnam and the other on out-sourcing strategies companies have for coming to Vietnam. After lunch, we go to tour some textile factories and see how clothes are made. It is supposed to be very hot and very dirty!

First Day of the Residential!

6. September 2009 | Category General | 0 Comments »

Today is the first day of the residential! After some opening remarks our first day of the presentation will be an overview of Vietnam’s history, politics & economics. After that will be a presentation on the investment climate in Vietnam. Not the most interesting of topics, but necessary for the paper I’ve been working on for the last 6 months as part of this class.

After this we get to do two fun this. We’re taking a trip to the Ch Chi Tunnels. These were the tunnels that the Vietnamese built during the Vietnam war. The experience is supposed to be very emotional. With the hot and humid weather, it will probably also be very sweaty!

After the tunnels and a shower, we are going on a dinner cruise down the Saigon river. Now, that should be fun!
